House shows are so back & the 3 touring jobs you probably don't know about
will always DM for the show location
House Shows Are BACK
Are our favorite indie bands bringing house shows back? Yes, lets talk about it 🤭
We all have that one friend who somehow knows every rising indie artist before anyone else. The same friend who has probably already been streaming Edgehill’s latest album Ode to the Greyhouse or thebandfriday’s “Pink Lemonade.” If you know, you know. And if you don’t, now you do. Edgehill is a perfect example of why house shows feel alive again.
The intimacy is the draw. A house show pulls you closer to the band and even closer to their almost cult-like fan base. There’s no barricade, no massive stage, no overproduction. Just hazy light, blown-out speakers, and that slightly distorted sound that somehow makes it better. It feels raw. Almost like a photo taken on film. Imperfect, warm, and impossible to recreate in a traditional venue.

3 Touring Positions You Might Not Have Known About 🤔
Ever wonder who’s pulling the strings at your favorite concert? Meet the unsung heroes of the road. 🎤 ⭐️
Production Manager
If you think of your favorite shows that had a sick stage design, incredible lighting and sound that was just elite, you’ve got the production manager to thank. They oversee set up, tear down, video, rigging and alllll the live production elements going on behind the scenes.
Backline Tech
When you see someone sprinting across stage, it’s probably a backline tech. They make sure all the instruments on stage are good to go. That includes guitar tuning between sets and troubleshooting when things go wrong, which is honestly just day-in-the-life stuff for live music in general. Shoutout to our backline heroes!
Tour Accountant
Touring can be EXPENSIVE! And there can be a lot of people to manage and pay out. Tour accountants are budgeting, tracking expenses, managing taxes compliance (scary), making reports and generally making sure artists and crew are getting PAID.
Press Conferences w/ UMG Artists
If you’re a part of a blog, zine, student media outlet, college radio station or any type of curation, we host press conferences on Zoom. It’s always one of our favorite parts of the week, and it’s a cool community experience where writers and curators all get together to chat with UMG artists. If you’re a part of a media outlet, DM us on IG to get plugged in. Here’s what’s coming up:
Joining us for a press conference on Wednesday, February 25, are Nathan Evans and The Saint PHNX band. They have marked a defining new chapter with the release of Angels’ Share, following a breakout year that included a sold-out hometown headline at OVO Hydro and a standout Hogmanay appearance. During the press conference, they’ll reflect on their evolution, the making of the record, and what this new era means for them moving forward.
To kick off March, we’re joined by Elmiene on Thursday, March 5 at 12pm PT / 3pm ET. The Def Jam artist will share exclusive details about his upcoming album sounds for someone, arriving March 27. His lead single, “Reclusive,” has already surpassed 2 million streams, marking him as one of the most compelling new voices to watch.
Joining us on Thursday, March 12 at 10am PT / 1pm ET is Astralwerks’ Aaron Hibell! He will be sharing exclusive details about his latest album SYNCHRONICITY, out March 6. His lead single, “set me free,” has already surpassed 40 million streams, setting him up to be a promising new voice in house/electronic music. DM your °1824 contact if you’re interested in joining and hearing about his new album and upcoming tour 👀.
